This post by Chomsky reminded me of something the leader of SAFE’s (Southern Illinoisans Against Fracking) legal team said to me at the general assembly last week. First I told the assembly about the student protest riots in Montreal, Quebec against among other things the noxious tar sands gas & oil development to the North. It was all news to them. They hadn’t heard about Canadian protests through US corporate MSM. They didn’t believe Canadians got excited about anything. I guess none of them speaks any French either.

   Second I told the SAFE assembly that there would be a few (sarcastic) US students walking out on May 1 protesting the same things the Canadian students are. The lawyer then spoke to me, “May 1, what is that? Something is happening May 1?” Then a chorus of voices around the assembly table in quick succession said “May 2”, “Department of Homeland Security”, “domestic terrorism”, “high alert.” Finally the anti-fracking old lawyer scratched his head & said something to me that I’ll never forget [out-of-context for privacy reasons], “I don’t know any May 1, I just know May 2 and 9/11.”

   Silly me! I had completely forgotten all that crypto-fascist bullshit around May 2 and 9/11! No wonder we are getting tear-gassed on May 1. Why, its completely understandable to me now. I guess corporations taking control of the country and flipping the levers of power will have nothing to do with it when police batons begin striking heads on May 1. Its all a mistake of #HomelandInsecurity holidays. When they roll out LRADs, drones, and NSA against the homeless kids in those riots, it’s all just a big misunderstanding. Those kids just need a job with the right corporation. They also need to begin timely payments on their bankster loans. It’s just the rules you see. That’s why we can’t celebrate May Day anymore. When the lawyer said that to me I suddenly realized how Reagan had finally won against unions and now its Bedtime For Bonzo for all May Day protestors. Big Brother Reagan said it so it must be fucking so.
