This is an aggressive attempt to legalize the criminal and treasonous behavior of the previous administration. CISPA is redundant. The powers they seek to share information already exist. CISPA simply makes the hated conduct of the Bush administration perfectly legal.

In July, ISPs collaborating with the MPAA and RIAA will cut service to anyone suspected of sharing files. So far the protection industry has a very poor civil liberties record. Legal file sharers have had their content removed. Dead people have been sued. Teens who downloaded 24 songs have been threatened.

Also innovators trying to use content they purchased have been arrested. Patent trolls and copyright vultures have abused the people. In general paranoid corporations have sought to blame their poor sales on file sharers when in fact well respected studies show the opposite is true. Although CISPA is a cyber security bill, the lack of due process makes it a blunt and versatile instrument useful to anyone who wants to litigate and abuse someone.

It is not a question of if or even when the rights of United States citizens may be infringed upon. It happened for nearly a decade already. The privileges so brazenly assumed by the Bush administration are now being formalized by the Obama administration. Do not allow the Senate to quietly end the fourth amendment and due process.

Remember, due process is not primarily about rights. Due process is a matter of truth. Without the truth, no prosecution can occur. Without due process it is impossible to confirm the truthfulness of evidence presented, nor whether the evidence was collected objectively. Due process primarily protects the evidence against tampering, the citizen against negligence, and the truth against prejudice.

Due process is essential to the integrity of the courtroom. Justice is impossible without it.

Do not allow politicians to lie and tell you that due process is merely an obsolete civil liberties concept which helps the guilty who may wish to harm you at any moment. Do not let them say that only citizens have a right to due process. Due process deals with truth itself and as such applies to everyone. This is one of the most important features of our constitution and legal system. Do not allow the Senate to turn already weakened court procedures into propaganda theater and a fear mongering circus of lies, innuendo, and disinformation.
